About MCNewsletters

Mike Collins, CPT-ISSA

Editor, Head Writer, and Owner | Specialist in Performance Nutrition & Exercise

In the winter of 2004, in a Brooklyn apartment packed with stacks of muscle magazines and books, Mike Collins began writing. He had spent years working nights in gyms, watching bodies transform under fluorescent lights—not just in shape, but in resolve. By day, he studied the mechanics of movement, the algebra of nutrition, and the quiet victories of clients who outlasted their own doubts. Over time, these observations pooled into newsletters: precise, unflinching dispatches from the frontlines of fitness.

Collins, an ISSA-certified trainer, Specialist in Performance Nutrition, and 24-year World Champion Fitness Professional, avoids the spotlight. He prefers the rhythm of the work—editing drafts in Sausalito cafes, revising headlines between bites of fish tacos, or sifting through decades of archived research. His writing carries the grit of barbells and the clarity of a coach who knows progress is measured in millimeters. MCNewsletters, now 19 years old, remains his answer to an industry crowded with shortcuts.

The Work

MCNewsletters is not a platform. It is a ledger—19 years of observations, experiments, and stubborn questions. The archives hold 900 issues, each a fossil of its time: the rise and fall of fads, the quiet breakthroughs, the supplements that survived double-blind trials and those that dissolved under scrutiny.

Collins, Thong, and DiCarlo do not collaborate in the traditional sense. They orbit the same truths, often in parallel, occasionally intersecting. Thong dissects the biomechanics of a deadlift; DiCarlo unpacks the serotonin spike of handmade pasta; Collins stitches it all into prose that refuses to condescend.
